Ecclesiastes Part II

     Here we have the second posting for the Book of Ecclesiastes. This book of the Bible just gets screwier and screwier with some of the little stories and snippets of supposed wisdom that it contains. Many of the verses are in direct contradiction with other verses, almost to a point of aggravation. This is a truly ridiculous book of the Bible. How can people read this muck and harbor even an inkling of wanting to believe in this God that has inspired such filth?

1. Ecclesiastes 6:1-2

     1 I have seen another evil under the sun, and it weighs heavily on mankind:

     2 God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them, and strangers enjoy them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.

Questions
     1. Why does God/the Lord give in little incomplete snippets and parcels that always turn out to be dark little gifts more along the lines of a behemoth Pandora's Box?

     2. How is a perfect God/Lord so persistently incomplete in His gift giving? Why is there always something left out?

     3. Is there something left out of God/the Lord? Is this why He is so erratic and absurd in His supposed gift giving? Is what is left out of God/the Lord glory? Is this lack of glory why He demands it from man?

     4. If God/the Lord created everything under the sun didn't He also create evil?

2. Ecclesiastes 6:3 

     3 A man may have a hundred children and live many years; yet no matter how long he lives, if he cannot enjoy his prosperity and does not receive proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

Questions
     1. What do children and many long years living and prosperity matter if everything is meaningless? Didn't this book mention in from the very start that everything is meaningless (Ecclesiastes 2:17-23)?

     2. Would the mother or father of the stillborn child agree with the last part of this verse?

3. Ecclesiastes 6:7

     7 Everyone’s toil is for their mouth, yet their appetite is never satisfied.

Questions
     1. But it is all meaningless, right? Sooo, it really does not matter whether it is toil or hunger it all means a big pile of bullshit, correct?

     2. Was Jesus' toil for His mouth?

     3. Is God's/the Lord's toil for His mouth? If so, if His appetite never satisfied?

4. Ecclesiastes 6:9

     9 Better what the eye sees than the roving of the appetite. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

Questions
     1. What happens if what the eyes see is not good? Would it not make sense for the eyes to rove to find something better?

     2. Is it meaningless to search for something better?

     3. Chasing the wind is NOT meaningless is it? Didn't God/the Lord know that you CAN catch the wind and convert its mighty power to energy?

5. Ecclesiastes 6:10

     10 Whatever exists has already been named, and what humanity is has been known; no one can contend with someone who is stronger.

Questions
     1. No one can contend with someone who is stronger? Really? How do you explain David and Goliath?

6. Ecclesiastes 7:1-2

     1 A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth.

     2 It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of everyone; the living should take this to heart.

Questions
     1. Ah, now a good name is said to be better than fine perfume. Doesn't Proverbs 22:1 say that a good name is better than riches? Why the change? Is this simply just another thing a good name is better than? Again, what does it freaking matter if everything is supposed to be meaningless? Is the Vanderbilt name better than Carolina Herrera perfume?

     2. The day of death better than the day of birth? For whom? For God/the Lord? What does He do with the dead? Eat them? Are people more useful to the Lord/God if they are dead? If people are more useful when they are dead then why give them life to begin with?

     3. Death is the destiny of everyone? What about Enoch and the prophet who was whisked away in a chariot of fire? How often does God fudge the rules?

     4. Why should the living take death to heart if everything is meaningless? Is death the only meaningful thing? Wouldn't that make God the God of death and not the God of life?

7. Ecclesiastes 7:3

     3 Frustration is better than laughter, because a sad face is good for the heart. 

Questions
     1. In Proverbs 17:22 it says that a merry heart is just like medicine but a broken spirit dries up the bones...sooo, what the fuck? Make up your freaking mind here, God. 

     2. If a merry heart is just like medicine and if frustration is better than laughter, wouldn't frustration also be counted as a medicine?

     3. If God considers frustration to be good medicine where in the hell did He get His medical knowledge or degree? A Cracker Jacked box?

8. Ecclesiastes 7:5

     5 It is better to heed the rebuke of a wise person than to listen to the song of fools.

Questions
     1. This is pure common sense, isn't it? There is nothing new being revealed here in some divine fashion, is there?

     2. I just don't know about this verse, right? Does this apply only to those being rebuked or to everyone in general to include those NOT being rebuked? I mean, if you consider a judge's decision to be rebuke of the wise does this verse infer that it would be better to listen to such than fun music?

     3. Sooo, if this applies to those who are not being rebuked would you rather read a court decision on a lengthy and boring contracts case OR listen to Gwen Stefani sing that her shit is bananas?

9. Ecclesiastes 7:12

     12 Wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter, but the advantage of knowledge is this: Wisdom preserves those who have it.

Questions
     1. Sooo, wisdom preserves those who have it? But...doesn't Ecclesiastes 1:18 say that with much wisdom comes much sorrow?

     2. If much sorrow comes with wisdom and if wisdom is a shelter is all of that sorrow providing the shelter in full or part?

10. Ecclesiastes 7:13-15

     13 Consider what God has done: Who can straighten what he has made crooked?

     14 When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future.

     15 In this meaningless life of mine I have seen both of these: the righteous perishing in their righteousness, and the wicked living long in their wickedness. 

Questions
     1. Sooo, if God has made the good and the bad and the happy and the sad...He has ALSO made the meaningless, hasn't He?

     2. How can a perfect God make something meaningless?

     3. How can a righteous God make something meaningless ON PURPOSE (and everything God does and creates IS supposed to be for a reason and thus on purpose, right?)?

11. Ecclesiastes 7:17

     17 Do not be overwicked, and do not be a fool— why die before your time?

Questions
     1. So, if you are not supposed to be OVERwicked, is it okay to be a little wicked?

     2. Why not just say do not be wicked at all? Why use the term OVERwicked?

     3. Sooo, if being really wicked as well as a fool makes you kick the bucket before your time, what the freak happened to this implied rule when it comes to Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin? Why didn't they die when they were kids or young men before they fucked up a good portion of the world for a really long time?

12. Ecclesiastes 7:19

     19 Wisdom makes one wise person more powerful than ten rulers in a city.

Questions
     1. Hah! God/the Lord must have never heard of politics, right? I mean, some of the biggest idiots EVER end up in charge and with more power than should ever be given or allowed to anyone, correct?

13. Ecclesiastes 8:4-5

     4 Since a king’s word is supreme, who can say to him, “What are you doing?”

     5 Whoever obeys his command will come to no harm, and the wise heart will know the proper time and procedure.

Questions
     1. Isn't the Lord/God supposed to be King, THE King? Lots of people obey His supposed commands and come to all sorts of harm (some of them even cause a lot of harm; some even harm themselves in the name of God their King), so what the freak happened to obeying the king and coming to no harm, hummm?

     2. A king's word may be supreme, sure, BUT when the king is issuing statements and words that are detrimental to his people shouldn't you absolutely question the king as to what the FUCK he is doing?

14. Ecclesiastes 8:7-8

     7 Since no one knows the future, who can tell someone else what is to come?

     8 As no one has power over the wind to contain it, so no one has power over the time of their death. As no one is discharged in time of war, so wickedness will not release those who practice it.

Questions
     1. But we CAN know the future, right? If there is nothing new under the sun (as so stated in Ecclesiastes 1:9) then there is nothing new when it comes to the future, correct?

     2. The future is not cloaked in utter darkness, is it? By reviewing past events and results and outcomes and merging those with current events and proposed actions, isn't it true that we can develop a fairly accurate idea of what the future will be?

     3. Does not knowing everything about the future mean that we do not know the future?

15. Ecclesiastes 8:14

     14 There is something else meaningless that occurs on earth: the righteous who get what the wicked deserve, and the wicked who get what the righteous deserve. This too, I say, is meaningless.

Questions
     1. Ecclesiastes 7:14 says that God has made the good times as well as the bad times. Lovely. Considering that, wouldn't it be fair and accurate to say that in this verse when the wicked get what the righteous deserve and when the righteous get what the wicked deserve THIS IS OF GOD'S DOING?

     2. All of this is supposed to be meaningless to boot. Why is God going about making all of this dastardly, meaningless shit? Why does God make bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people?

16. Ecclesiastes 9:2

     2 All share a common destiny—the righteous and the wicked, the good and the bad, the clean and the unclean, those who offer sacrifices and those who do not. As it is with the good, so with the sinful; as it is with those who take oaths, so with those who are afraid to take them.

Questions
     1. If this is the case then why do so many of the followers of God draw so many goddamn lines of separation?

     2. If this verse is the truth then why does God/the Lord create so much separation and division within man? If everything is so much the same why is God constantly trying to make things so very different in really fucked up ways?

17. Ecclesiastes 9:4

     4 Anyone who is among the living has hope —even a live dog is better off than a dead lion!

Questions
     1. Really? Doesn't Ecclesiastes 4:2 say that the dead who have already died are happier than the living? WTF kind of bipolar horseshit is going on here?

18. Ecclesiastes 9:5-6

     5 For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even their name is forgotten.

     6 Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished; never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun.

Questions
     1. This is freaking lunacy, right? Doesn't Ecclesiastes 4:3 say that better is he who has never been born and who has never seen the evil under the sun? If that is the case WTF difference does it make whether or not the living know they will die?

19. Ecclesiastes 9:11-12

     11 I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.

     12 Moreover, no one knows when their hour will come: As fish are caught in a cruel net, or birds are taken in a snare, so people are trapped by evil times that fall unexpectedly upon them.

Questions
     1. This is so fucking stupid! Time and chance have NOTHING to do with ANYTHING, do they?! Read the goddamn Bible. Why do the Children of Israel win or lose? Why does anyone die? Why did the freaking Flood happen? Why is there pestilence and slavery and famine? Do you really think these things are from CHANCE and TIME? Fuck no! Isn't God/the Lord the One who manipulates everything to meet whatever ridiculous and absurd ends He has created?

     2. So, people are like fish in a net, an evil net? And WHO does this net belong to? WHO cast the net after purposely creating helpless little fish (the people) in a stinking toxic sea of hate and sorrow and suffering? WHO creates the unexpected evil?

20. Ecclesiastes 9:14-16

     14 There was once a small city with only a few people in it. And a powerful king came against it, surrounded it and built huge siege works against it.

     15 Now there lived in that city a man poor but wise, and he saved the city by his wisdom. But nobody remembered that poor man.

     16 So I said, “Wisdom is better than strength.” But the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded.

Questions
     1. How freaking stupid is this story? So this wise but poor man saves everyone BUT no one remembers WTF he did to save everyone? No one remembers a word? If this guy who saved everyone was so insignificant how in the fuckey-doo do the people even remember he saved them to begin with, hummm?

Psalms Part I: Just a Few Questions

If you thought the temperament of the Divine was going to improve with a more poetic approach you were sadly mistaken. So sorry to pop your bubble, but I suppose somebody had to. Take a peek at some of these, consider the questions, and then offer some answers.


1. Psalm 1:2
2 but his delight is in Yahweh's law. On his law he meditates day and night.

Questions
1. Have you read some of Jehovah's laws? Do you find them delightful? Do you really think you should meditate on these laws day and night? How about the law that says to stone your kids if they sass you? Or, better yet, how about the law where a rapist can marry his victim? Isn't that delightful?


2. Psalm 1:6
6 For Yahweh knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish.

Questions
1. Sooo...how can God know the way of the righteous when He consistently punishes people for things they did not do?

2. But...isn't following God strikingly, suspiciously similar sounding to the way of the wicked since fuck-loads of people drop like flies anytime anyone listens to any of the hair-brained ideas Senor Yahweh stews up?


3. Psalm 2:1-4
1 Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing?

2 The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take counsel together, against Yahweh, and against his Anointed, saying,

3 "Let's break their bonds apart, and cast their cords from us."

4 He who sits in the heavens will laugh. The Lord will have them in derision.

Questions
1. Well, do you think that maybe the nations are in an uproar because of the bullshit God pulls for His own glorification? I mean, didn't God even fudge the language of the people at the Tower of Babel because He didn't like how they were working together?

2. You can't say the kings take a stand against the Lord ALWAYS of their own accord, right? Doesn't it say in Exodus that it was God/the Lord who hardened Pharaoh's heart against what the Lord wanted? Does that even sound anywhere near ethical?

3. And WHY does God laugh, hummm? Is it because of all the shitty things He gets people to do to each other? What kind of loving father laughs at fighting children?


4. Psalm 3:1
1 Yahweh, how my adversaries have increased! Many are those who rise up against me.

Questions
1. Wouldn't this depend on how pissed off at you God is?


5. Psalm 3:3
3 But you, Yahweh, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.

Questions
1. Sure, a shield so long as you do exactly what God wants no matter what, right?


6. Psalm 4:5
5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness. Put your trust in Yahweh.

Questions
1. Sacrifice of righteousness? How in the fuck can you righteously kill something that did nothing wrong in order to pay for something YOU did wrong?


7. Psalm 4:8
8 In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety. For the Chief Musician, with the flutes. A Psalm by David.

Questions
1. You mean safety like when a global mega-flood killed all people and animals and plants...with the exception of eight freaking people and a handful of animals on a floating asylum?


8. Psalm 5:4-5
4 For you are not a God who has pleasure in wickedness. Evil can't live with you.

5 The arrogant shall not stand in your sight. You hate all workers of iniquity.

Questions
1. Really? Well then God must really hate Himself, right?

Judges Part III: Just a Few Questions

Why is this so important?

Why is it so important to question what you believe? What is the benefit to you in forcing yourself to look at your belief system, to reassess time and again the things you clutch tightly and hold dear to your heart or your mind or your soul or your spirit? Is it true that all paths lead to God? Who is God? What is God? Why is God? Does man truly exist because of God or is it really the other way around?

It is okay, I think, to ask yourself these questions consistently and not reach an answer. At least you are asking yourself, putting yourself to task and pressing for an answer and for greater understanding. I do not think it is okay to not ask yourself these questions or to only ask yourself once and then let it be. No. You must seek so that you may find. Do not be satiated with easy fix answers of God or Jesus will make everything all better. In the end analysis it really is all up to you to change yourself for the better and contribute something to the whole. This starts with your belief system in what you believe about yourself, about others, about the world and universe around you, about all things divine or supernatural.

Your belief system is of great importance. Take great care of it. Respect it. Cherish it. Make it something good. Make it something full of appreciation, full of compassion, full of grace (and, no, I do not mean the religious version of grace), full of hope, full of selflessness, full of knowledge, full of joy and full of love...

...because without these precious things essential to living a full life what have you got?

We now continue with Part III of the book of Judges in the Old Testament.

1. Judges 12:1
1 The men of Ephraim were called to arms, and they crossed to Zaphon and said to Jephthah, “Why did you cross over to fight against the Ammonites and did not call us to go with you? We will burn your house over you with fire.”

Questions
     1) What exactly is the problem with God's chosen people? Are they so jealous over who gets to fight whom that they will go so far as to fight each other?

     2) You didn't call me to go and fight with you so now I am going to burn your house down?

2. Judges 12:4-6
4 Then Jephthah gathered all the men of Gilead and fought with Ephraim. And the men of Gilead struck Ephraim, because they said, “You are fugitives of Ephraim, you Gileadites, in the midst of Ephraim and Manasseh.

5 And the Gileadites captured the fords of the Jordan against the Ephraimites. And when any of the fugitives of Ephraim said, “Let me go over,” the men of Gilead said to him, “Are you an Ephraimite?” When he said, “No,”

6 they said to him, “Then say Shibboleth,” and he said, “Sibboleth,” for he could not pronounce it right. Then they seized him and slaughtered him at the fords of the Jordan. At that time 42,000 of the Ephraimites fell.

Questions
     1) Sooo...if the guy before you cannot pronounce the word properly he is thus an infidel and should be done away with immediately?

     2) God is allowing His own chosen people to fight and kill each other? What is wrong with this picture? What is God thinking? If God is allowing His people to kill each other what is God seeking to accomplish by allowing such?

3. Judges 13:1
1 And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, so the LORD gave them into the hand of the Philistines for forty years.

Questions
     1) WHAT exactly was it that the people of Israel did that was so very evil? Surely there are variations on what is evil, so why aren't these supposed evil deeds clarified? I want to know exactly what it was they did, don't you? I do not want to guess what they did since that will only leave me open to mistake, right?


4. Judges 13:2-3
2 There was a certain man of Zorah, of the tribe of the Danites, whose name was Manoah. And his wife was barren and had no children.

3 And the angel of the LORD appeared to the woman and said to her, “Behold, you are barren and have not borne children, but you shall conceive and bear a son.

Questions
     1) What is it with the angel of the LORD appearing to women throughout the Bible to tell them that they will have children when the women are up to that point barren?

     2) Why is it always barren women?

     3) Is there something special about barren women that God is not telling us?

     4) Are the barren women more prone to do everything that God wants since they want children so badly?


5. Judges 13:16
16 And the angel of the LORD said to Manoah, “If you detain me, I will not eat of your food. But if you prepare a burnt offering, then offer it to the LORD.” (For Manoah did not know that he was the angel of the LORD.)

Questions
     1) Why doesn't this angel want to eat the food the people are offering to him?

     2) Does the LORD not allow the angel to take the meal since that would be the people showing the angel attention and affection and the LORD wants all of that for Himself?

     3) Is the ravenous need for attention the reason why the LORD has the angel tell the people to offer the LORD a burnt offering?


6. Judges 13:17-18
17 And Manoah said to the angel of the LORD, “What is your name, so that, when your words come true, we may honor you?”

18 And the angel of the LORD said to him, “Why do you ask my name, seeing it is wonderful?”

Questions
     1) This is not a very nice thing for the angel of the LORD to say, is it? It means that the angel of the LORD is basically saying the people are too goddamn stupid to understand the angel's name, doesn't it?

     2) Is there any reason why the angel or the LORD would NOT want the people to know the angel's name and so simply made some horseshit up about the people not being able to understand the name?


7. Judges 13:20-22
20 And when the flame went up toward heaven from the altar, the angel of the LORD went up in the flame of the altar. Now Manoah and his wife were watching, and they fell on their faces to the ground.

21 The angel of the LORD appeared no more to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was the angel of the LORD.

22 And Manoah said to his wife, “We shall surely die, for we have seen God.”

Questions
     1) If God is everywhere and so apparent then why didn't these people know right away who the angle of the LORD was? Why does it seem like the Bible makes these people appear to be so stupid? Is it because they want people to see how very much these stupid people needed this amazingly wonderful God? Isn't that wrong?

8. Judges 14:1-3
1 Samson went down to Timnah, and at Timnah he saw one of the daughters of the Philistines.

2 Then he came up and told his father and mother, “I saw one of the daughters of the Philistines at Timnah. Now get her for me as my wife.”

3 But his father and mother said to him, “Is there not a woman among the daughters of your relatives, or among all our people, that you must go to take a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?” But Samson said to his father, “Get her for me, for she is right in my eyes.”

Questions
     1) Oh how nice. A guy sees a woman and says, "I want her," and then tells people to go and get her for him. Doesn't that sound like a nice healthy respect for women and the right of a woman to make her own choices?


9. Judges 14:4
4 His father and mother did not know that it was from the LORD, for he was seeking an opportunity against the Philistines. At that time the Philistines ruled over Israel.

Questions
     1) Isn't this the same thing as saying that the LORD was purposely stirring the pot so He could get people fighting?

     2) Isn't this also the same thing as saying the LORD was USING the people, HIS people as a means to an end?

     3) The people of Israel are the pawns in God's/the LORD's sick-o chess game, aren't they?


10. Judges 14:5-6
5 Then Samson went down with his father and mother to Timnah, and they came to the vineyards of Timnah. And behold, a young lion came toward him roaring.

6 Then the Spirit of the LORD rushed upon him, and although he had nothing in his hand, he tore the lion in pieces as one tears a young goat. But he did not tell his father or his mother what he had done.

Questions
     1) Sooo...it says Sampson goes down WITH his father and mother but he does not tell them what he did to the young lion? How does that work? Was he or was he NOT with his parents? 

     2) If Sampson and his parents were together as it certainly sounds like in verse 5, how did his parents not see what Sampson had done to the young lion?

     3) What is meant by 'young lion' when considering this set of verses? Do they mean young lion like an adolescent male lion that is in the process of coming into his own strength and power? Do they mean quite literally a young lion, like a cub? If it is a lion CUB would it really take that much for a very strong man to tear him to pieces? I mean, remember what Michael Vick did to those dogs? You get a strong enough person and they can really tear into something, right?


11. Judges 14:15
15 On the fourth day they said to Samson’s wife, “Entice your husband to tell us what the riddle is, lest we burn you and your father’s house with fire. Have you invited us here to impoverish us?”

Questions
     1) The Bible is so stuffed with this type of "Tell me what I want to know or I will tear you to shreds and burn your house down" garbage that you seriously need to ponder what the fuck is wrong with God, right? Why does He allow this bullshit time and again? To get what HE wants? Doesn't that then make Him just as guilty as the douchebag threatening death if the information is not given?


12. Judges 14:20
20 And Samson’s wife was given to his companion, who had been his best man.

Questions
     1) You know what? The treatment of women in the Bible is so base and so vile you have to ask what the heck part of God is holy and compassionate and loving, right?

     2) These people swap women around as though they were trading poker chips...and GOD allows this? Oh wait...it must be that version of free will in the Bible that so many just love to quote as the culprit, correct?


13. Judges 15:1-2
1 After some days, at the time of wheat harvest, Samson went to visit his wife with a young goat. And he said, “I will go in to my wife in the chamber.” But her father would not allow him to go in.

2 And her father said, “I really thought that you utterly hated her, so I gave her to your companion. Is not her younger sister more beautiful than she? Please take her instead.”

Questions
     1) The woman's father gave her away to another man? Did she have any choice in this? Did the father at any time think about sending Sampson some kind of freaking notification of what was being done?

     2) The father then requests that Sampson take the younger sister of the woman? Did SHE have a choice in the matter? By what truth and real right does a person hand over the life and body of another person? What evil is this that the LORD allows without so much as a shrug?


14. Judges 15:3-5
3 And Samson said to them, “This time I shall be innocent in regard to the Philistines, when I do them harm.”

4 So Samson went and caught 300 foxes and took torches. And he turned them tail to tail and put a torch between each pair of tails.

5 And when he had set fire to the torches, he let the foxes go into the standing grain of the Philistines and set fire to the stacked grain and the standing grain, as well as the olive orchards.

Questions
     1) Sooo...was Sampson previously NOT innocent in regards to what he did to the Philistines? 

     2) If Sampson was unfair and unrighteous with how he treated the Philistines then why in the fuckey-doo would the LORD allow such a person to lead His people?

     3) Does the LORD not care about how unfair Sampson is with the Philistines since they are considered to be the enemy?

     4) Why do the people of the LORD have so very many enemies?


15. Judges 15:14-15
14 When he came to Lehi, the Philistines came shouting to meet him. Then the Spirit of the LORD rushed upon him, and the ropes that were on his arms became as flax that has caught fire, and his bonds melted off his hands.

15 And he found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, and put out his hand and took it, and with it he struck 1,000 men.

Questions
     1) Do you notice that here it says that the Spirit of the LORD rushed upon him? Why does it say rushed when in other places in the Bible is clearly says that the Spirit of the LORD came upon him when referring to a person being inundated with the Spirit of the LORD?

     2) Does the use of the word rushed imply that the Spirit of the LORD is angry?


16. Judges 16:1
1 Samson went to Gaza, and there he saw a prostitute, and he went in to her.

Questions
     1) Sooo...in addition to Sampson not playing fair with the enemies of Israel he also has a thing for prostitutes? Does the LORD not care about the character of the man who leads His people?

     2) Considering the apparent lack of concern shown by the LORD in regards to Sampson's catting around with prostitutes, do you think people should have been so hard on Jimmy Swaggart?


17. Judges 16:15-17
15 And she said to him, “How can you say, ‘I love you,’ when your heart is not with me? You have mocked me these three times, and you have not told me where your great strength lies.”

16 And when she pressed him hard with her words day after day, and urged him, his soul was vexed to death.

17 And he told her all his heart, and said to her, “A razor has never come upon my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother’s womb. If my head is shaved, then my strength will leave me, and I shall become weak and be like any other man.”

Questions
     1) You would think that Sampson would have realized that this woman was doing her best to find out his weakness or the source of his strength and NOT tell her the real reasons, right?

     2) Why was Sampson so stupid in telling her the source of his strength, especially when several times she even had men there waiting to attack him?


18. Judges 16:27
27 Now the house was full of men and women. All the lords of the Philistines were there, and on the roof there were about 3,000 men and women, who looked on while Samson entertained.

Questions
     1) Is this why the LORD allowed Sampson to be so goddamn stupid in telling the source of his strength, so that later on down the line Sampson could be put in a position to topple the pillars in the temple and kill three thousand Philistines?

     2) If the question above is true...well, wouldn't this be just another example of God/the LORD using and abusing someone WITHOUT THEM REALIZING IT so that God/the LORD could get whatever it is that He wants (which usually includes a good number of people dying horribly)?
