Psalms Part III

     We are continuing with the questions I have for verses in the Bible. Again, and yes I have stated this many times before, if you cannot handle the idea that the Bible SHOULD be scrutinized and questioned DO NOT read these postings. If you cannot handle profanity-laced questions (such as mine are) DO NOT read any further. 

     In addition, if you think you have an answer to any one of these questions please give your answer in the comments section. If your answer is comprised of another Bible verse be sure to leave the passage location so that I may find it.


1. Psalms 10:1
     1 Why do you stand far off, Yahweh? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?

Questions
     1. Is God/Yahweh standing far off because He is busy watching the melee He has caused unfold?

     2. Is God/Yahweh standing far off because He is the douche Who has caused all of whatever is going on and, while He DOES enjoy the fruits of His evil labors, He really does not want to be standing too close because someone just might figure out it is God/Yahweh screwing things up and not man?


2. Psalms 10:4
    4 The wicked, in the pride of his face, has no room in his thoughts for God.

Questions
     1. So, if a person does not wish to think about or believe in the  God of the Bible that person is to be considered wicked, correct?

     2. If God is THE Creator, and if God created man with a mind that can (and often does) believe in many deities OTHER THAN God (or even believing in no deities at all), isn't it a wicked God Who, according to His voracious appetite for blood and pain and sorrow, says HE is THE God and there are no others and if you say or believe differently there will be hell to pay, quite literally? 


3. Psalms 10:9
     9 He lurks in secret as a lion in his ambush. He lies in wait to catch the helpless. He catches the helpless, when he draws him in his net.

Questions
     1. Right. Are you going to tell me that God is SO much better in His intentions when He Himself made the decision to send out a young lion to shred a prophet God was pissed at?

4. Psalms 10:11
     11 He says in his heart, "God has forgotten. He hides his face. He will never see it."

Questions
     1. And what, pray tell, does God say in HIS heart about man? That He has man right where He wants him? That He can do whatever He wants to man because man has no fucking clue and God has all of the power anyway?

5. Psalms 10:16
     16 Yahweh is King forever and ever! The nations will perish out of his land.

Questions
     1. And WHY have so many nations perished from His land? Is it because of God's insatiable appetite for violence and blood? Is it because of God's insistence that EVERYONE worship Him, or else?


6. Psalms 10:18
     18 to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that man who is of the earth may terrify no more. For the Chief Musician. By David.

Questions
     1. Hasn't it always been God and not mortal man Who has terrorized, especially when you consider that according to the Book of Genesis it was GOD Who purposely put enmity within man?

     2. Be honest now in answering this question, alright? WHO says to kill this or that person/people because they believe or worship different, or love or work different, or eat or dress different?

     3. Man doesn't come anywhere close to being the oppressive terrorist that God is, does he?


7. Psalm 11:2
     2 For, behold, the wicked bend their bows. They set their arrows on the strings, that they may shoot in darkness at the upright in heart.

Questions
     1. And WHY do the wicked do this? WHO is it Who is constantly turning and guiding and forcing the hand of the wicked?

     2. How many wicked men would there REALLY be if God did not purposely and continuously put people up to doing stupid, mean shit?


8. Psalm 11:7
     7 For Yahweh is righteous. He loves righteousness. The upright shall see his face. For the Chief Musician; upon an eight-stringed lyre. A Psalm of David.

Questions
     1. Loves righteous deeds? Are you fucking high? Would you call Yahweh hijacking the freewill of Pharaoh in order to make the Egyptians appear as godless and stubborn so that God could murder them a righteous deed?

     2.  Would you call God allowing Lot's daughters to get Lot drunk so that they could rape him and get pregnant a righteous deed?

     3. Would you call God allowing King David to murder Uriah, allowing King David to steal Uriah's wife, and then God making the resulting baby DIE as punishment when the baby isn't the one who did anything wrong in the first fucking place a righteous deed?

     4. Where in the fuckey-doo did God get His definition of righteousness?


9. Psalm 12:1
     1 Help, Yahweh; for the godly man ceases. For the faithful fail from among the children of men.

Questions
     1. Oh, please! Don't you think that Yahweh's version of the godly man being one who devotes complete, fear-laced attention to glorifying God...well, don't you find this to be screwy at best?


10. Psalm 12:6
     6 The words of Yahweh are flawless words, as silver refined in a clay furnace, purified seven times.

Questions
     1. Right. Is this flawlessness the reason why so many people from so many religions fight over the supposed true words of God?

     2. If the words of Yahweh are pure why in the blazing blue do such words need any type of refinement or purification?

     3. Purified seven times? Doesn't this imply that there was a previous state of imperfection? What does this say about God's supposedly flawless words?

     4. The words of Yahweh are pure bullshit, right? I mean, His own chosen people STILL don't have the mega land inheritance promised to them by their God, right (and the teeny little strip of dust they currently inhabit does not even come close to fulfilling the grand promise of land made in the Old Testament, so don't go there)?


11. Psalm 13:1
     1 How long, Yahweh? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?

Questions
     1. Don't you think the answer to this would depend on how badly a person has pissed God off?

     2. How can a perfect God have a memory problem and forget anything?

     3. How in the fuck can God hide when He is supposed to be omni-present?

     4. If God COULD hide wouldn't that imply He is NOT everywhere after all, thus making His purported characteristic of omni-presence null and void?

     5. Can God undo Himself? Wouldn't an action taken by God to hide Himself and thus revoke His own omni-presence be the very same as God undoing Himself?

     6. Why in the hell ask how long God will be locked in His divine state of forgetfulness if you are also going to ask if God will be forgetting forever? Do you see the lack of logic in this line of questioning in this verse?

12. Psalm 13:6

     6 I will sing to Yahweh, because he has been good to me. For the Chief Musician. By David.

Questions
     1. Sure. I read what God did to your ancestors in the desert after supposedly fleeing Egypt. Are you sure you are not singing to Yahweh because you are batshit with fear over what God will do to you or your kids if you don't sing to Him?

13. Psalm 16:1-2

     1 Preserve me, God, for in you do I take refuge.

     2 My soul, you have said to Yahweh, "You are my Lord. Apart from you I have no good thing."

Questions
     1. Considering WWII alone, wouldn't you be more accurate to say that there isn't refuge to be found in God?

     2. How can this verse so obtusely state that apart from God there is no good thing when the simple fact is that when people try to part from God He either fucks with them in seriously sadistic ways, or flat out kills them?

     3. Isn't it true that there ARE many good things outside of God, but that God finds novel ways to either fuck up those good things or revokes them in their entirety?

14. Psalm 16:9
     9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my tongue rejoices. My body shall also dwell in safety.

Questions
     1. You are out of your fucking mind. Since when has what God done to His people qualify as His people dwelling securely in or because of God, hummm?

15. Psalm 17:8
     8 Keep me as the apple of your eye. Hide me under the shadow of your wings,

Questions
     1. The apple of your eye? You mean like the supposed bad apple that Adam and Eve ate that appeared to be really good, but that really turned out to be rather evil?

16. Psalm 18:10
     10 He rode on a cherub, and flew. Yes, he soared on the wings of the wind.

Questions
     1. Okay, never mind the UFO undertones of this verse, but doesn't this verse sound like something from a Rainbow Bright cartoon?

17. Psalm 18:14
     14 He sent out his arrows, and scattered them; Yes, great lightning bolts, and routed them.

Questions
     1. You mean like how Zeus and Thor throw about bolts of lightning to defeat their enemies?

18. Psalm 18:16
     16 He sent from on high. He took me. He drew me out of many waters.

Questions
     1. Uh, no. You dumb twat, wasn't it your God Who brought the goddamn great waters in the first place to destroy damn near everyone and everything on the friggin' planet during Noah's time?

     2. Wouldn't a more accurate verse say that God held the head of man UNDER the water?

19. Psalm 18:20

     20 Yahweh has rewarded me according to my righteousness. According to the cleanness of my hands has he recompensed me.

Questions
     1. No He fucking hasn't! Yahweh recompensed according to the level of anger He was feeling at the time He did whatever it was He did, right? It had nothing to do with righteousness, did it?

Psalms Part I: Just a Few Questions

If you thought the temperament of the Divine was going to improve with a more poetic approach you were sadly mistaken. So sorry to pop your bubble, but I suppose somebody had to. Take a peek at some of these, consider the questions, and then offer some answers.


1. Psalm 1:2
2 but his delight is in Yahweh's law. On his law he meditates day and night.

Questions
1. Have you read some of Jehovah's laws? Do you find them delightful? Do you really think you should meditate on these laws day and night? How about the law that says to stone your kids if they sass you? Or, better yet, how about the law where a rapist can marry his victim? Isn't that delightful?


2. Psalm 1:6
6 For Yahweh knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish.

Questions
1. Sooo...how can God know the way of the righteous when He consistently punishes people for things they did not do?

2. But...isn't following God strikingly, suspiciously similar sounding to the way of the wicked since fuck-loads of people drop like flies anytime anyone listens to any of the hair-brained ideas Senor Yahweh stews up?


3. Psalm 2:1-4
1 Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing?

2 The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take counsel together, against Yahweh, and against his Anointed, saying,

3 "Let's break their bonds apart, and cast their cords from us."

4 He who sits in the heavens will laugh. The Lord will have them in derision.

Questions
1. Well, do you think that maybe the nations are in an uproar because of the bullshit God pulls for His own glorification? I mean, didn't God even fudge the language of the people at the Tower of Babel because He didn't like how they were working together?

2. You can't say the kings take a stand against the Lord ALWAYS of their own accord, right? Doesn't it say in Exodus that it was God/the Lord who hardened Pharaoh's heart against what the Lord wanted? Does that even sound anywhere near ethical?

3. And WHY does God laugh, hummm? Is it because of all the shitty things He gets people to do to each other? What kind of loving father laughs at fighting children?


4. Psalm 3:1
1 Yahweh, how my adversaries have increased! Many are those who rise up against me.

Questions
1. Wouldn't this depend on how pissed off at you God is?


5. Psalm 3:3
3 But you, Yahweh, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.

Questions
1. Sure, a shield so long as you do exactly what God wants no matter what, right?


6. Psalm 4:5
5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness. Put your trust in Yahweh.

Questions
1. Sacrifice of righteousness? How in the fuck can you righteously kill something that did nothing wrong in order to pay for something YOU did wrong?


7. Psalm 4:8
8 In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety. For the Chief Musician, with the flutes. A Psalm by David.

Questions
1. You mean safety like when a global mega-flood killed all people and animals and plants...with the exception of eight freaking people and a handful of animals on a floating asylum?


8. Psalm 5:4-5
4 For you are not a God who has pleasure in wickedness. Evil can't live with you.

5 The arrogant shall not stand in your sight. You hate all workers of iniquity.

Questions
1. Really? Well then God must really hate Himself, right?

Job Part V: Just a Few Questions

This is the final posting for the questions for the Book of Job in the Old Testament of the Holy Bible. Next, of course, will be the questions for the Book of Psalms. Hopefully you have taken the time to go back to the beginning, to Genesis, to read and consider all of these questions from the very beginning. I hope you will also post answers, and if you do I appreciate your response.


1. Job 19:25
25 But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth.

Questions
1. Of course Job will say this. Why? Is it because as fucked up as Job's life has become God can fuck it up even MORE, in ways that Job knows he could never imagine nor comprehend?


2. Job 21:7
7 "Why do the wicked live, become old, yes, and grow mighty in power?

Questions
1. Well, isn't part of the problem the fact that the wicked are often defined as those who do not believe in God? Aren't there plenty of good people who do not believe in God? Conversely, aren't there plenty of BAD people who believe in God?


3. Job 28:12
12 "But where shall wisdom be found? Where is the place of understanding?

Questions
1. But...wisdom isn't straight knowledge, is it? Doesn't wisdom include knowledge combined with courage, compassion, consideration, comfort, and care? Does God know this? Shouldn't God know this?


4. Job 28:28
28 To man he said, 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom. To depart from evil is understanding.'"

Questions
1. If understanding is true wisdom doesn't that then make fear fairly useless?

2. How is departing from evil true understanding when there are plenty of folks who understand much...yet still choose evil?

3. If fearing the Lord is true wisdom...uhmmm...isn't the Lord/God then using a loathsome tool (fear) to gain glory, a following, devotion, and all of that divine poppycock?


5. Job 37:23-24
23 We can't reach the Almighty. He is exalted in power. In justice and great righteousness, he will not oppress.

24 Therefore men revere him. He doesn't regard any who are wise of heart."

Questions
1. This makes no sense, does it? If God is SO excellent with His might and power (which can be seen everywhere) then people CAN find Him out, correct?

2. Where is God's justice and righteousness? Where was it for the Children of Israel as they meandered for forty fucking years in a goddamn desert? How about for the people who died on that most horrific September 11th? The people who did those terrible deeds that day worship the same damn God (and consequently thought that this God was showing justice and righteousness)...SO...where is the justice and righteousness?

3. If men revere ANYONE who has no regard for those who are wise of heart would they be doing so because they fear for their lives?

4. Would anyone in their right mind revere another who shows no regard for the wise of heart?


6. Job 38:4-6
4 "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if you have understanding.

5 Who determined its measures, if you know? Or who stretched the line on it?

6 Whereupon were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone,

Questions
1. Isn't this one of the most favored set of verses quoted by believers? Do you know how everything came to be? Do you understand the whys of everything? No? Then how can you say there is no God?

2. Sooo...does the lack of understanding as to the hows and whys of anything in nature/the universe/ourselves prove this maniacal God that believers swear is real?

3. Does man's lack of ability to do anything prove God or the supposed truth of the Bible?


7. Job 42:7-8
7 It was so, that after Yahweh had spoken these words to Job, Yahweh said to Eliphaz the Temanite, "My wrath is kindled against you, and against your two friends; for you have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has.

8 Now therefore, take to yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept him, that I not deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has."

Questions
1. Sooo...God is basically saying that these guys made Him angry and so they all need to go and kill something? What the fuck?


8. Job 42:10-17
10 Yahweh turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends. Yahweh gave Job twice as much as he had before.

11 Then came there to him all his brothers, and all his sisters, and all those who had been of his acquaintance before, and ate bread with him in his house. They comforted him, and consoled him concerning all the evil that Yahweh had brought on him. Everyone also gave him a piece of money, and everyone a ring of gold.

12 So Yahweh blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand female donkeys.

13 He had also seven sons and three daughters.

14 He called the name of the first, Jemimah; and the name of the second, Keziah; and the name of the third, Keren Happuch.

15 In all the land were no women found so beautiful as the daughters of Job. Their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers.

16 After this Job lived one hundred forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, to four generations.

17 So Job died, being old and full of days. BOOK I

Questions
1. Sooo...is God bribing Job with all of these things? Are all of these new things supposed to make the taking of all of his previous belongings/family okay and excusable?

2. Does this make the deaths of Job's previous children easier to bear? Does it or is it supposed to wash God's hands of guilt?

3. Sooo...what about everyone who got fucked over in this little experiment to test Job's faith and trust in God? What do they get?

4. God being all-powerful and all-knowing, He didn't have to prove Job's devotion/allegiance in this manner, did He?

5. Does God use this story of Job in the Old Testament to build the bad reputation of Satan?

6. This ALL falls on God, doesn't it? Isn't HE the one Who is supposed to be in ultimate, total control of EVERYTHING?

Turkey Broth for the Spirit: Just a Few Questions Part I: The Pentateuch

FINALLY here!

     I have finally put together all of Part I of my book series that questions the verses of the Bible. This first book covers solely the first five books of the Bible, the Pentateuch, and is the total compilation of the posts in the corresponding blog. You will notice that in the book many of the verses read differently than they do in the posts since it was absolutely necessary for me to ONLY use the World English Bible translation.

More Biblical Repetition

Oh dear me...more repetition. BUT I have taken this journey of my own accord and might as well follow through. Here are more questions for the book of II Chronicles. Please be so kind as to leave a comment if you so desire.

1. II Chronicles 21:7

7 But the LORD did not want to destroy David's dynasty, for he had made a covenant with David and promised that his descendants would continue to rule, shining like a lamp forever.

Questions

     1) Sooo...God won't COMPLETELY destroy the house of David, but He WILL bring it great sorrow and suffering in addition to destroying the other houses, right?

2. II Chronicles 21:12-15

12 Then Elijah the prophet wrote Jehoram this letter: "This is what the LORD, the God of your ancestor David, says: You have not followed the good example of your father, Jehoshaphat, or your grandfather King Asa of Judah.

13 Instead, you have been as evil as the kings of Israel. You have led the people of Jerusalem and Judah to worship idols, just as King Ahab did in Israel. And you have even killed your own brothers, men who were better than you.

14 So now the LORD is about to strike you, your people, your children, your wives, and all that is yours with a heavy blow.

15 You yourself will suffer with a severe intestinal disease that will get worse each day until your bowels come out."

Questions

     1) How lovely. I will hurt you, I will make you suffer, I will make your family and friends suffer...in fact, I will make you watch them all die and then make you suffer more...and then I will very likely kill you? Is THIS the God you worship?

3. II Chronicles 25:2

2 And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, yet not with a whole heart.

Questions

     1) How in the fuck did he do what was right in the eyes of the LORD/God if what he did he did with less than a whole heart, hummm? 

     2) Would less than a whole heart qualify as right in the eyes of the LORD/God?

4. II Chronicles 29:31-34

31 Then Hezekiah declared, "Now that you have consecrated yourselves to the LORD, bring your sacrifices and thanksgiving offerings to the Temple of the LORD." So the people brought their sacrifices and thanksgiving offerings, and all whose hearts were willing brought burnt offerings, too.

32 The number of the burnt offerings that the assembly brought was 70 bulls, 100 rams, and 200 lambs; all these were for a burnt offering to the LORD. 

33 And the consecrated offerings were 600 bulls and 3,000 sheep.

34 But the priests were too few and could not flay all the burnt offerings, so until other priests had consecrated themselves, their brothers the Levites helped them, until the work was finished—for the Levites were more upright in heart than the priests in consecrating themselves.

Questions

     1) So much death. Is that what the LORD/God requires that He let the people live? Death and LOTS of it?

5. II Chronicles 30:22-24

22 Hezekiah encouraged all the Levites regarding the skill they displayed as they served the LORD. The celebration continued for seven days. Peace offerings were sacrificed, and the people gave thanks to the LORD, the God of their ancestors.

23 Then the whole assembly agreed together to keep the feast for another seven days. So they kept it for another seven days with gladness.

24 For Hezekiah king of Judah gave the assembly 1,000 bulls and 7,000 sheep for offerings, and the princes gave the assembly 1,000 bulls and 10,000 sheep. And the priests consecrated themselves in great numbers.

Questions

     1) When will the death requirement ever be over? When will God/the LORD say enough to death?

6. II Chronicles 31:6

6 And the people of Israel and Judah who lived in the cities of Judah also brought in the tithe of cattle and sheep, and the tithe of the dedicated things that had been dedicated to the LORD their God, and laid them in heaps.

Questions

     1) Dedicated things? What are dedicated things? Why must God/the LORD have dedicated things? 

     2) How and why would God need anything? If God needed anything wouldn't that negate His supposed all-powerful nature?

7. II Chronicles 32:21

21 And the LORD sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty warriors and commanders and officers in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he came into the house of his god, some of his own sons struck him down there with the sword.

Questions

     1) What in the fuckey-doo is this craziness?

8. II Chronicles 32:22

22 So the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib king of Assyria and from the hand of all his enemies, and he provided for them on every side.

Questions

     1) Oh sure, saved them at the GREAT expense of the lives of so very many others, right?

9. II Chronicles 32:27-29

27 And Hezekiah had very great riches and honor, and he made for himself treasuries for silver, for gold, for precious stones, for spices, for shields, and for all kinds of costly vessels;

28 storehouses also for the yield of grain, wine, and oil; and stalls for all kinds of cattle, and sheepfolds.

29 He likewise provided cities for himself, and flocks and herds in abundance, for God had given him very great possessions.

Questions

     1) Sooo...did the LORD really decide to share His treasures with the king, or did He simply let the king hold these items so that he would think that they were really his when all along the LORD never passed ownership/title, but merely passed possession?

33 And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the upper part of the tombs of the sons of David, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honor at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned in his place.

     1) What good does honor do the dead?

11. II Chronicles 33:2

2 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD drove out before the people of Israel.

Questions

     1) How many times does the LORD/God say this about the king's of His own people?

12. II Chronicles 36:19

19 And they burned the house of God and broke down the wall of Jerusalem and burned all its palaces with fire and destroyed all its precious vessels.

Questions

     1) Sooo...God is all-great and oh-so-powerful that He gets His ass kicked and all of His shit burned to the ground? AND...WHY did this happen to an all-powerful God that is responsible for every breath and tick of life for all time for ever and ever amen?

     2) When God's/the LORD's people get their asses kicked and God says it is because they have been bad people...do you think He is just saying that to cover-up His own powerlessness and grandiose claims of ultimate, insurmountable powers?
