Psalms Part V

     Here we go with Psalms Part V for the questions I have in regards to what is written in the Bible. If you have any answers please post them in the comments section after each posting. If you think there are questions that should have been asked please be sure to post those questions as well.

     Keep in mind that when it comes to things of a spiritual nature/religious nature it is of the utmost importance to question whatever it is you have decided to believe in, or what you might be considering believing in. Do not make the mistake of treating your belief as something cheap and useless. Take care of your belief and be very discriminating in choosing what you decide to believe in.

1. Psalm 33:13-14

     13 From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind;

     14 from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth—

Questions

     1. If the Lord/God exists EVERYWHERE why would He need to be looking down on mankind from above the earth? Why does this verse make it sound like there is some kind of distance involved when God/the Lord is supposed to be everywhere? Wouldn't the Lord/God being EVERYWHERE negate any kind of distance between God/the Lord and man?

     2. If God/the Lord is everywhere why and HOW does He have a dwelling place?

2. Psalm 33:16

     16 No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength.

Questions

     1. If no king is saved by the size of his army, and if no warrior escapes by his great strength...do these things also apply to God/the Lord? Why not? 

     2. Do the so-called enemies of God/the Lord know what this verse says and what it means?

     3. Is this verse, like so many others like it, simply a scare tactic to try to keep people from fighting against God/the Lord or thinking contrary to how He wants people to think?

3. Psalm 33:18

     18 But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,

Questions
     1. Why would the eyes of the Lord be on those who fear Him? Does the Lord have some kind of NEED for those who fear Him? Does the Lord feed off of the fear? 

     2. Does God/the Lord NEED fear in order to survive?

4. Psalm 34:11

     11 Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. 

Questions
     1. If God/the Lord is so beautiful and wonderful and full of power...why teach fear?

     2. What does teaching fear accomplish?

     3. What kind of vibration is released by fear, and does God/the Lord need this vibration of fear to complete some kind of purpose or satisfy some kind of need?

5. Psalm 34:18

     18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Questions
     1. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted? Why? Have you ever been around someone who is brokenhearted? They don't release a very good vibe, do they? Does God/the Lord need bad, unhappy vibes?

6. Psalm 35:10

     10 My whole being will exclaim, “Who is like you, Lord? You rescue the poor from those too strong for them, the poor and needy from those who rob them.”

Questions
     1. If the Lord is so great why would there be the need to rescue the poor and those lacking in strength in the first place?

     2. If the Lord is so great and JUST why are the poor and the needy being robbed?

7. Psalm 35:28

     28 My tongue will proclaim your righteousness, your praises all day long.

Questions
     1. Proclaim righteousness all day long? Have you ever tried to talk for more than just a few hours at a time, I mean straight talking and talking? It is very hard, isn't it? Your voice gets all rough and cracked, doesn't it? Why would the Lord want you to do this all day long?

     2. Does the Lord/God NEED to be praised all day long? Why? Why would the all great and powerful need anything, much less anything all day long?

8. Psalm 36:8

     8 They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights.

Questions
     1. Sooo, the Lord feeds folks from His river of delights? This sounds totally creepy, doesn't it? Kind of like Hansel and Gretel feeding on a house of delights, right? The Lord makes mighty promises and gives little trinkets of life and splendor here and there. Why does He do this?

9. Psalm 37:4

     4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Questions
     1. Oh, promises upon promises. Isn't this lovely? And people say that the Lord wants nothing from those who believe in Him. Right. What the Lord wants is the attention, the devotion...the DELIGHT of people. In fact, He wants it so badly He is willing to make gargantuan promises, isn't He? He will even promise to give you the desires of your heart, right? Not that far off from promising 72 virgins, right?

10. Psalm 40:2

     2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

Questions
     1. This sounds like a plug for evolution, right? Lifted you out of a slimy pit? You mean like from a little bacterial cell that was undeveloped, and afterward He took those cells and changed them around a bit so you could develop legs and stand?

11. Psalm 40:3

     3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.

Questions
     1. Notice that the song was PUT into the mouth of the individual in this verse, right? Does it say the person came up with the song on their own? Nope. It says it was PUT there. Does this mean that someone's mind can be totally screwed with by the Lord, hummm?

     2. Sooo, if the Lord/God needs fear in order to live, what better way to seed loads of fear than by developing ways to control the minds of people and spreading the news of that kind of power?

12. Psalm 42:2

     2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?

Questions
     1. Is this part of the Lord's/God's mind control over man, to make man feel like he needs and absolutely thirsts for God/the Lord?

13. Psalm 46:10

     10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Questions
     1. If God/the Lord is all-powerful and is everywhere at all times what the fuck kind of sense does it make for Him to say some stupid shit like "I will be exalted" when He is already supposed to be the ultimate, and therefore the MOST exalted?

14. Psalm 48:14

     14 For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.

Questions
     1. This is so stupid, right? How in the fuckey-doo can God be your God forever and ever is there is a goddamn end, hummm?

15. Psalm 49:13-14

     13 This is the fate of those who trust in themselves, and of their followers, who approve their sayings.

     14 They are like sheep and are destined to die; death will be their shepherd (but the upright will prevail over them in the morning). Their forms will decay in the grave, far from their princely mansions.

Questions
     1. Oh look! More suspicious threats from the Lord/God, right? Why make such ridiculous threats? What does God have against the man who trusts himself? Is it because that would be taking food from the mouth of God/the Lord?


16. Psalm 50:3
     3 Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages.

Questions
     1. First things first, right? How can God/the Lord 'come' when He is already supposed to be everywhere? Does not the word 'come' infer an absence? If God/the Lord is absent in ANY fashion then He is not Omni-Present, is He? That would revoke His ultimate status now, wouldn't it?


17. Psalm 50:4
     4 He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people:

     1. If God/the Lord is everywhere why would He need to summon anything or anyone?


18. Psalm 50:22
     22 Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you:

Questions
     1. Now why would God/the Lord threaten to not forget Him? Does He NEED to be remembered in order to exist?


19. Psalm 51:17
     17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.

Questions
     1. Is this God/the Lord in a nutshell? He WANTS you to suffer and to be broken and to be contrite and to be simply fucking miserable so He can feed on your sorrow and misery? 

     2. So if you give your broken and sorrowful and contrite self to God as a sacrifice He will not despise you? Is that fucked up or what?


20. Psalm 55:17
     17 Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.

Questions
     1. If you believe in God/the Lord and He is so powerful and loving, why in the hell are you crying out in distress so freaking often?

I Kings Part VIII: Just a Few Questions

Doesn't it just get more and more interesting?

You know, once you start reading the Bible and actually paying attention to the words it really is a work of fiction that is extremely difficult to put down, isn't it?

1. I Kings 19:2-3

2 So Jezebel sent this message to Elijah: "May the gods strike me and even kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you just as you killed them."

3 Elijah was afraid and fled for his life. He went to Beersheba, a town in Judah, and he left his servant there.

Questions

     1) Why was Elijah afraid of Jezebel after the LORD showed His mighty power when Elijah killed the 400 prophets?

2. I Kings 19:4-8

4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he asked that he might die, saying, “It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life, for I am no better than my fathers.”

5 And he lay down and slept under a broom tree. And behold, an angel touched him and said to him, “Arise and eat.”

6 And he looked, and behold, there was at his head a cake baked on hot stones and a jar of water. And he ate and drank and lay down again.

7 And the angel of the LORD came again a second time and touched him and said, “Arise and eat, for the journey is too great for you.”

8 And he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mount of God.

Questions

     1) Sooo...God/the LORD will bring food cakes and water to His prophet, but will continue to play Hunger Games:Divine Edition with everyone else?

     2) Oh, look! The magical Bible number of forty...AGAIN. What, pray tell, does it mean here?

3. I Kings 19:10

10 He said, “I have been very jealous for the LORD, the God of hosts. For the people of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away.”

Questions

     1) Now...just hold on a minute there, Elijah. Didn't you do some slaughtering yourself?

     2) And what the fuck did you expect, Elijah? Of course they are going to go after you, right?

4. I Kings 19:19-21

19 So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen in front of him, and he was with the twelfth. Elijah passed by him and cast his cloak upon him.

20 And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, “Let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to you?”

21 And he returned from following him and took the yoke of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their flesh with the yokes of the oxen and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and went after Elijah and assisted him.

Questions

     1) Maybe some of the starvation is caused by the people killing off the plow animals?

5. I Kings 20:2-3

2 And he sent messengers into the city to Ahab king of Israel and said to him, “Thus says Ben-hadad:

3 ‘Your silver and your gold are mine; your best wives and children also are mine.’”

Questions

     1) Sooo...what happens to the worst wives?

6. I Kings 20:27

27 When the Israelites were also mustered and given provisions, they marched out to meet them. The Israelites camped opposite them like two small flocks of goats, while the Arameans covered the countryside.

Questions

     1) Sooo...now the people get to eat? Is it a reward for fighting?

7. I Kings 20:35-36

35 And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his fellow at the command of the LORD, “Strike me, please.” But the man refused to strike him.

36 Then he said to him, “Because you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as you have gone from me, a lion shall strike you down.” And as soon as he had departed from him, a lion met him and struck him down.

Questions

     1) Sooo...God tells the man of God to tell the other guy to strike the man of God...and when the other guy refuses he gets a goddamn death sentence? WTF for?

     2) Why didn't God give His friggin message to the guy He wanted to hit the freaking man of God, hummm?

     3) Strike me, please? Oooohhh...because the PLEASE was supposed to let the guy who had no fucking clue what the hell was going on that he really WAS supposed to strike this man of GOD?

8. I Kings 20:37-38

37 Then he found another man and said, “Strike me, please.” And the man struck him—struck him and wounded him.

38 So the prophet departed and waited for the king by the way, disguising himself with a bandage over his eyes.

Questions

     1) Sooo...was allowing the man who struck the man of God to live a reward for going along with the little conspiracy?

     2) God has a prophet DISGUISE himself? How fucking nonsense is this shit?

     3) Why does God even find it necessary to TRICK anyone to begin with, right? I mean, if someone is in disguise they DO intend to TRICK someone, don't they?

9. I Kings 20:40-42

40 And as your servant was busy here and there, he was gone.” The king of Israel said to him, “So shall your judgment be; you yourself have decided it.”

41 Then he hurried to take the bandage away from his eyes, and the king of Israel recognized him as one of the prophets.

42 And he said to him, “Thus says the LORD, ‘Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life shall be for his life, and your people for his people.’”

Questions

     1) Oh, look! More of God's trickery, right?

     2) By the way...why in the HELL did God tell this prophet of His to tell another man to strike him if all he needed to do was wrap the goddamn bandage around his fucking head so the king wouldn't see who it freaking was under there? Did he need a bloody bandage? Shit, man...all you gotta do is roll that bandage on the dead bodies, right?

10. I Kings 21:8-10

8 So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name and sealed them with his seal, and she sent the letters to the elders and the leaders who lived with Naboth in his city.

9 And she wrote in the letters, “Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth at the head of the people.

10 And set two worthless men opposite him, and let them bring a charge against him, saying, ‘You have cursed God and the king.’ Then take him out and stone him to death.

Questions

     1) God essentially did the same thing to Pharaoh when He robbed Pharaoh's free will and made him do shit he wouldn't have done BUT for what God did, so how is this any less acceptable?

     2) Is it not acceptable because God didn't do it?

11. I Kings 21:27-29

27 And when Ahab heard those words, he tore his clothes and put sackcloth on his flesh and fasted and lay in sackcloth and went about dejectedly.

28 And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

29 “Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring the disaster in his days; but in his son’s days I will bring the disaster upon his house.”

Questions

     1) Ahhh...so is what we have here another case of one person paying for another's sin, hummm? Sooo...the son will get to pay?

     2) And what the hell does Ahab expect to help by tearing his clothing, dumping dirt on his head, starving himself, and going about with a long face? Has it REALLY worked for anyone before? Does he really think God gives a flying fuck whether or not he is happy or sad?

12. I Kings 22:10

10 King Ahab of Israel and King Jehoshaphat of Judah, dressed in their royal robes, were sitting on thrones at the threshing floor near the gate of Samaria. All of Ahab's prophets were prophesying there in front of them.

Questions

     1) I wonder what the hell kind of noise was made with all of the prophets there going on at once, right? I mean, were they ALL sounding like they were speaking in tongues like that Kenneth Hagin moron, or what?

13. I Kings 22:38

38 And they washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria, and the dogs licked up his blood, and the prostitutes washed themselves in it, according to the word of the LORD that he had spoken.

Questions

     1) Why so degrading? Does it make God feel that much better about Himself?

14. I Kings 22:40

40 So Ahab slept with his fathers, and Ahaziah his son reigned in his place.

Questions

     1) Ahab slept with his fathers? You mean like Jimmy Hoffa and Davey Jones sleep with the fishes?

I Kings Part VII: Just a Few Questions

A Procession of Kings, A Procession of Problems

Sooo...how do you like the procession of the kings so far for the people of Israel? It is like a soap opera, and as it runs on and on the writers decide to get crazier and crazier with the story, right?

1. I Kings 16:11-13

11 Zimri immediately killed the entire royal family of Baasha, leaving him not even a single male child. He even destroyed distant relatives and friends.

12 So Zimri destroyed the dynasty of Baasha as the LORD had promised through the prophet Jehu.

13 This happened because of all the sins Baasha and his son Elah had committed, and because of the sins they led Israel to commit. They provoked the anger of the LORD, the God of Israel, with their worthless idols.

Questions
     1) Why did Zimri kill the friends? The friends are not part of the royal family, so what the hell kind of purpose was served by murdering people who had no access to the throne?

     2) When you read the above verses did you get the feeling that there is something strangely subliminal/subconscious going on? These verses seem to have a curious tone about them, I thought. 

It is almost as if they are trying to imply that God/the LORD is not the one responsible for any of this bizzaro behavior, that man acted entirely and completely ON HIS OWN without any type of interference from anyone at anytime, that God/the LORD informed the prophet Jehu almost as a heads-up courtesy (because who knows who might be able to take the information of the impending doom and turn it into something good?) as to the even bigger load of shit that was about to slam the fan of the people of Israel, and, perhaps most disturbing of all, that EVERYTHING that has befallen man in these ridiculous situations of divinely measured and punished insolence/disobedience is the fault and problem of man and man alone. This registers fairly high on the creep-o-meter, don't you think?

     3) Can you think of any reason that an all-powerful Being would be working behind the scenes to manipulate people into thinking a situation followed a certain pattern when in fact it did not?

     4) Why/how is God/the LORD provoked  when HE knew everything that would happen, wanted it to happen, needed it to happen, and definitely made sure that it happened?

     5) If the friggin idols were so damn worthless then why was the LORD/God so badly bothered and jealous and threatened by them?

     6) If the friggin idols were so damn worthless, and if the people of Israel chose to worship those idols instead of the LORD/God...what does THAT say about what at least some of the people of Israel thought about the LORD/God?

2. I Kings 16:25-26

25 Omri did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, and did more evil than all who were before him.

26 For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in the sins that he made Israel to sin, provoking the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger by their idols.

Questions
     1) Omri did MORE evil than all the others? Is this unsupported assertion supposed to make people not care about what happens to him or his family, not care about why he did what he did, and not care that many people are being/will be forced to pay for the purported sins of this man?

3. I Kings 16:30-31

30 And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD, more than all who were before him.

31 And as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, he took for his wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal and worshiped him.

Questions
     1) Ahhh...so now it is Ahab who has done more evil than all of those before him?

4. I Kings 17:1-5

1 Now Elijah, who was from Tishbe in Gilead, told King Ahab, "As surely as the LORD, the God of Israel, lives--the God I serve--there will be no dew or rain during the next few years until I give the word!"

2 And the word of the LORD came to him:

3 “Depart from here and turn eastward and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.

4 You shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”

5 So he went and did according to the word of the LORD. He went and lived by the brook Cherith that is east of the Jordan.

Questions
     1) No dew or rain during the next few years, hummm? I bet the people of Israel thought their days of parched bellies and dry lips were left back in the desert they stumbled out of when they arrived to take possession of the promised land, right?

     2) Okay, sooo...God is all-powerful and all-this and all-that, the ultimate protector, BUT His own prophet has to hide...and this all-powerful God is the One Who told the prophet to hide?

5. I Kings 17:12-14

12 And she said, “As the LORD your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it and die.”

13 And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said. But first make me a little cake of it and bring it to me, and afterward make something for yourself and your son.

14 For thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, ‘The jar of flour shall not be spent, and the jug of oil shall not be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain upon the earth.’”

Questions
     1) Well, doesn't verse 12 imply that the people of Israel are still waiting for the land to produce its flowing milk and honey?

     2) What was the purpose of responding with "Do not fear"? Sure, the woman said she was going to prepare her and her son's last meal...and then die...but she does not sound fearful, but rather sounds resigned to her fate, right?

     3) Feed the prophet of the LORD/God first and THEN feed the starving mother and child? What does this tell you about the priorities of this wonderfully loving, amazingly compassionate God/LORD?

     4) Sooo...you have all of these people in Israel dying from thirst and starving BUT God/the LORD sees fit to provide food ONLY for the woman, her son, His prophet, and fuck everyone else?

     5) Sooo...are we supposed to be surprised and impressed by this never ending supply of food for three people?

6. I Kings 17:15-16

15 And she went and did as Elijah said. And she and he and her household ate for many days.

16 The jar of flour was not spent, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the LORD that he spoke by Elijah.

Questions
     1) Who gives a shit how many days the woman, her son, and God's prophet ate from the never ending food supply? Jesus Christ, we have an ENTIRE PEOPLE that need to eat and drink, correct?

     2) I am not impressed by the magic jug and magic jar, but I am depressed by how God/the LORD is treating all of these people, HIS CHILDREN, aren't you?

7. I Kings 17:17-21

17 After this the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became ill. And his illness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.

18 And she said to Elijah, “What have you against me, O man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to remembrance and to cause the death of my son!”

19 And he said to her, “Give me your son.” And he took him from her arms and carried him up into the upper chamber where he lodged, and laid him on his own bed.

20 Then Elijah cried out to the LORD, "O LORD my God, why have you brought tragedy to this widow who has opened her home to me, causing her son to die?"

21 Then he stretched himself upon the child three times and cried to the LORD, “O LORD my God, let this child’s life come into him again.”

Questions
     1) Illness so severe he had no breath left? Was it an asthma attack? COPD? A pulmonary disorder?

     2) Verse 18 is hilarious, right? This woman wants to know what the prophet has against her to cause the death of her son? Doesn't this stupid bitch remember at the beginning of this story she herself was prepared to make herself and her son some kind of cakes and then die from starvation? The likelihood of death was already there when Mr. Prophet rode into town, right?

     3) We already know that the LORD/God is a severely twisted sadist, so we do not have to ask why He let this happen. What should be asked is what the fuckey-doo is the deal with the prophet stretching himself out ON the boy three times? I gotta tell you...this sounds ALL WRONG, doesn't it?

8. I Kings 17:24

24 Then the woman said to Elijah, "Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is the truth."

Questions
     1) Sooo...does this mean that this whole time the woman did NOT believe this prophet guy was a real prophet of the LORD?

9. I Kings 18:1

1 After many days the word of the LORD came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go, show yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain upon the earth.”

Questions
     1) Does God/the LORD use drought and famine as a means of culling the people who worship Him?

10. I Kings 18:22-24

22 Then Elijah said to them, "I am the only prophet of the LORD who is left, but Baal has 450 prophets.

23 Now bring two bulls. The prophets of Baal may choose whichever one they wish and cut it into pieces and lay it on the wood of their altar, but without setting fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and lay it on the wood on the altar, but not set fire to it.

24 And you call upon the name of your god, and I will call upon the name of the LORD, and the God who answers by fire, he is God.” And all the people answered, “It is well spoken.”

Questions
     1) Sooo...is God/the LORD trying to make Himself look outnumbered in order to make His 'victory' over Baal look even more amazing and miraculous?

     2) Sooo...God's prophet and the prophets of Baal BOTH use altars, BOTH use animals in sacrifice, BOTH cut up the animals and put the pieces on the altar, and when following through with their worship ritual BOTH burn the animal carcass, correct?

     3) Sooo...the only true difference between the sacrifice rituals of Elijah and the sacrifice rituals of the prophets of Baal is the NAME of the pretend individual being sacrificed to?

11. I Kings 18:27-29

27 About noontime Elijah began mocking them. "You'll have to shout louder," he scoffed, "for surely he is a god! Perhaps he is daydreaming, or is relieving himself. Or maybe he is away on a trip, or is asleep and needs to be wakened!"

28 So they shouted louder, and following their normal custom, they cut themselves with knives and swords until the blood gushed out.

29 They raved all afternoon until the time of the evening sacrifice, but still there was no sound, no reply, no response.

Questions
     1) Well, what have we here but a FINE example of what many modern day believers claim they are subjected to: ridicule and mockery. Do you think Elijah would appreciate people mocking his God?

     2) What makes it okay for Elijah to mock people who worship a different God, but it is NOT okay for anyone to rail and mock Elijah's God?

     3) Want to try something interesting? Consider verse 27. Now, take this verse, the meaning and words of this verse, and then apply it to modern day troubles and terrible situations, okay? Think about 9/11, the Japan tsunami, the mega quake in Mexico in the mid eighties...yada-yada, plucka-plucka...and ask them where their God was when these terrible things happened. Was He in traffic? Was He too busy? Was He angry with man? Was He out doing laundry?

12. I Kings 18:36-37

36 At the usual time for offering the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet walked up to the altar and prayed, "O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant. Prove that I have done all this at your command.

37 Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that you, O LORD, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back.”

Questions
     1) What the fuck is Elijah talking about turning the hearts of the people back to God? This is NOT what happens or will happen here, right? There is no deliberate effort to truly turn their hearts back to God, is there?

13. I Kings 18:38-40
38 Immediately the fire of the LORD flashed down from heaven and burned up the young bull, the wood, the stones, and the dust. It even licked up all the water in the trench!

39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, “The LORD, he is God; the LORD, he is God.”

40 Then Elijah commanded, "Seize all the prophets of Baal. Don't let a single one escape!" So the people seized them all, and Elijah took them down to the Kishon Valley and killed them there.

Questions
     1) Doesn't God know that frightening people into believing in Him does not qualify as the same people having turned their hearts back to Him?

     2) God is supposed to be Truth, correct? Would you agree that coercion is NOT akin to truth? 

     3) Here in this particular chapter in I Kings we very clearly see that FEAR is again utilized by God as a tool to encourage the people to change back to worshiping God alone, correct? Sooo...if God is the ultimate in truth, and if God decided that the best way to get His people back was to scare them to death, and if coercion is NOT akin to truth...doesn't that significantly alter the characteristics that define God/the LORD?

     4) If God/the LORD is using coercion to make people believe in Him, and if coercion is NOT truth doesn't that then mean that God/the LORD is a liar and most certainly NOT worthy or deserving of the attention or praise He receives?

14. I Kings 18:44-46
44 Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, "I saw a little cloud about the size of a man's hand rising from the sea." Then Elijah shouted, "Hurry to Ahab and tell him, 'Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don't hurry, the rain will stop you!'"

45 And in a little while the heavens grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode and went to Jezreel.

46 Then the LORD gave special strength to Elijah. He tucked his cloak into his belt and ran ahead of Ahab's chariot all the way to the entrance of Jezreel.

Questions
     1) How in the blazing blue did the servant happen to spot a little cloud the size of a man's hand rising from the damn sea, hummm?

     2) Sooo...Elijah was granted special powers by God to run super fast? Do you suppose the process to grant the prophet this power was like in that old television show starring Lee Majors, uhmmm...the Six Million Dollar Man? You know the one. I can see it now, right? God and His other two personalities getting ready for surgery on Elijah. God says to His other selves, "Gentlemen, We have the technology..."
