Song of Solomon

Divinely Sanctioned Porn

When reading the Bible you will come across many curious and even ridiculous things. The Book of Deuteronomy is a very good example of such. Many people may try to tell you that there is much in the Bible that is supposed to be metaphor. That's right. God didn't mean it that way, He meant it THIS way. God didn't mean it this way, He meant it THAT way. The Book of Song of Solomon really takes the cake when it comes to metaphor, though. This entire book sounds like porn. Seriously. It is divinely sanctioned porn. Of course, I suppose that interpretation would depend on what God is telling you the verses really REALLY mean, right? The guy who wrote this dastardly book isn't really talking about marrying and sleeping with his sister, no way. The guy who wrote this book isn't really talking about kissing and doing other things with a man.

There is so much in the Bible that can be taken so very many ways.

1. 1:1-3
     1 Solomon’s Song of Songs.

2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth— for your love is more delightful than wine.

3 Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like perfume poured out. No wonder the young women love you!

Questions

     1. Okay, so right from the very beginning verse we can establish that King Solomon is supposed to have written this book of the Bible, correct?

     2. Read verse two. Why is King Solomon speaking about the kisses from a man's mouth being more delightful than wine?

     3. No wonder the young women love you? Uhmmm, sounds like somebody has a thing going for the SAME SEX, right?

2. 3:1, 3

1 All night long on my bed I looked for the one my heart loves; I looked for him but did not find him.

3 The watchmen found me as they made their rounds in the city. “Have you seen the one my heart loves?”

Questions

     1. Sooo, is Solomon looking for a certain HIM in his own bed or is this some kind of kinky metaphor for some Christ the Bridegroom thing?

     2. It must be Solomon talking here or else why would a woman be out and about at NIGHT when the watchmen are out looking for the one she loves? Another Christ the Bridegroom thing?

3. 3:4

4 Scarcely had I passed them when I found the one my heart loves. I held him and would not let him go till I had brought him to my mother’s house, to the room of the one who conceived me.

Questions

     1. Oh WOW. So he finds the MAN he is looking for and takes him back to his mother's house to the very ROOM his mother conceived him in? Say what? Is he in the same bed? This is some weird shit, right?

4. 4:1

4 How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes behind your veil are doves. Your hair is like a flock of goats descending from the hills of Gilead.

Questions
     1. Your hair is like a flock of goats? Have you ever seen a flock of goats? Have you ever smelled a flock of goats? This does not sound like a complement in the least, does it?

5. 4:5
5 Your breasts are like two fawns, like twin fawns of a gazelle that browse among the lilies.

Questions
     1. Your breasts are like two fawns? WTF? Are we talking tiny and brown? Fuzzy and firm? What?

6. 4:10-12
10 How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much more pleasing is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your perfume more than any spice!

11 Your lips drop sweetness as the honeycomb, my bride; milk and honey are under your tongue. The fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon.

12 You are a garden locked up, my sister, my bride; you are a spring enclosed, a sealed fountain.

Questions
     1. OMG! What the hell is it with the Bible and incest or making stuff sound like incest? How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride?

     2. Is the sister-bride referencing a sister nation?

     3. Can you imagine if this guy's sister-bride were in the present day and she smelled of Lebanon? Wouldn't she smell like cordite and explosives?

     4. A garden locked up, hummm? A spring enclosed? A sealed fountain? This guy is saying this about his SISTER? This is straight up, wacko porn, isn't it?

7. 5:1-2
1 I have come into my garden, my sister, my bride; I have gathered my myrrh with my spice. I have eaten my honeycomb and my honey; I have drunk my wine and my milk. Eat, friends, and drink; drink your fill of love.

2 I slept but my heart was awake. Listen! My beloved is knocking: “Open to me, my sister, my darling, my dove, my flawless one. My head is drenched with dew, my hair with the dampness of the night.”

Questions
     1. I have come into my garden my sister, my bride? Why in the hell wasn't this one of the books kept OUT of the Bible? Is this divinely sanctioned porn?

     2. Jesus Christ, this is some horrible stuff here, right? Open to me my sister, my head is drenched with dew with the dampness of the night?? Holy freaking shit!

     3. Couldn't Hollywood or the porn industry make a killing off of this book of the Bible? They wouldn't even really need to tweak the words much, would they?

8. 5:4-5
4 My beloved thrust his hand through the latch-opening; my heart began to pound for him.

5 I arose to open for my beloved, and my hands dripped with myrrh, my fingers with flowing myrrh, on the handles of the bolt.

Questions
     1. Well, these verses could be taken a couple of ways, right? Lovely wording here, folks. You should read the King James Version of this for a real turn-on. And this Book of Porn is God-inspired?

9. 5:7
7 The watchmen found me as they made their rounds in the city. They beat me, they bruised me; they took away my cloak, those watchmen of the walls!

Questions
     1. The King James Version says his veil was taken away. Sooo, was Solomon going about dressed as a WOMAN? Is that why the watchmen beat him, they thought he was a woman?

10. 5:16
16 His mouth is sweetness itself; he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, this is my friend, daughters of Jerusalem.

Questions
     1. Did Solomon kiss men? Some translations separate the verses out to parts that a man supposedly says and parts a woman supposedly says...but the book is supposed to have been written by Solomon and does not say anyone helped him to write it or added to it or was in on the writing. Besides, that wouldn't really matter, would it? Especially when this mother trucker is talking about marrying and doing the deed with his freaking sister, right?

11. 6:8
     8 Sixty queens there may be, and eighty concubines, and virgins beyond number;

Questions
     1. Yikes! Someone REALLY gets around, don't they?

     2. Can you say STDs?

12. 7:3
3 Your breasts are like two fawns, like twin fawns of a gazelle.

Questions
     1. Do you mean that the breasts are like twin fawns as in they look exactly the same and one boob isn't, like, bigger than the other or anything like that?

13. 8:2
2 I would lead you and bring you to my mother’s house— she who has taught me. I would give you spiced wine to drink, the nectar of my pomegranates.

Questions
     1. I would give you spiced wine to drink? Do you mean like slipping someone a little Rohypnol in their refreshment and then taking advantage of them? God! What in the world were You thinking inspiring this crap?

14. 8:7
7 Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away. If one were to give all the wealth of one’s house for love, it would be utterly scorned.

Questions
     1. Ahhh, but many waters CAN quench love if you are God, right? Didn't God flood the entire earth and kill everything and every one except for those in the ark? Isn't God supposed to be Love?

The Book of Esther: Just a Few Questions

With ALL of these questions posed in regards to the Bible wouldn't it be nice to be able to access the questions in one place instead of flipping between blog postings? Now you can! The questions for the first five books of the Bible, the Pentateuch are now in one compilation, and there is no need whatsoever to flip-flop between various posts! Go here for your copy:

The Shortest Yet

If you thought the posts for Ezra and Nehemiah are short then you are in for a real treat with the book of Esther. This one is mega short. Granted, it is a fairly short book of the Bible, but the book of Ruth is shorter and even that book produced more questions than Esther which is considerably longer. Sooo...here we go, right? Girdeth thee thou thy loins and let us get on witha da show, no?

1. Esther 1:10-11
10 On the seventh day of the feast, when King Xerxes was in high spirits because of the wine, he told the seven eunuchs who attended him--Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas--

11 to bring Queen Vashti to him with the royal crown on her head. He wanted the nobles and all the other men to gaze on her beauty, for she was a very beautiful woman.

Questions
     1) Is this where we get the term trophy wife?

     2) Verse ten totally sounds like something from those Sleeping Beauty novels about sex, doesn't it?

2. Esther 1:19-22
19 "So if it please the king, we suggest that you issue a written decree, a law of the Persians and Medes that cannot be revoked. It should order that Queen Vashti be forever banished from the presence of King Xerxes, and that the king should choose another queen more worthy than she.

20 When this decree is published throughout the king's vast empire, husbands everywhere, whatever their rank, will receive proper respect from their wives!"

21 The king and his nobles thought this made good sense, so he followed Memucan's counsel.

22 He sent letters to all parts of the empire, to each province in its own script and language, proclaiming that every man should be the ruler of his own home and should say whatever he pleases.

Questions
     1) Aha...a LITTLE problem with women, hummm?

     2) Husbands should receive proper respect from the wives but not the other way around, hummm? Tell me again how this works, how does God/the LORD figure that this is proper treatment of women?

3. Esther 4:3
3 And as news of the king's decree reached all the provinces, there was great mourning among the Jews. They fasted, wept, and wailed, and many people lay in burlap and ashes.

Questions
     1) And this helps HOW?

     2) Did God/the LORD ever tell people to behave/mourn in this fashion when situations like the one presented in this particular story occur? What is the purpose and aim of this foolishness?

4. Esther 8:2
2 The king took off his signet ring--which he had taken back from Haman--and gave it to Mordecai. And Esther appointed Mordecai to be in charge of Haman's property.

Questions
     1) Hummm...another recycled story? Isn't this very similar to what happened to Joseph in Genesis 41:42?

5. Esther 8:17
17 In every province and city, wherever the king's decree arrived, the Jews rejoiced and had a great celebration and declared a public festival and holiday. And many of the people of the land became Jews themselves, for they feared what the Jews might do to them.

Questions
     1) Well isn't this wonderfully fucked up, hummm? Many people of the land became Jews because of what they feared the Jews would do to them? You mean like how many of the Native Americans became Christians and Catholics because they were afraid of what might be done (and unfortunately still WAS) to them?

     2) What makes the Jews who did this shit so right or so special or so privileged to do something so fucked up? Because they are supposed to be GOD's people, is that it?

6. Esther 9:2-3
2 The Jews gathered in their cities throughout all the king's provinces to attack anyone who tried to harm them. But no one could make a stand against them, for everyone was afraid of them.

3 And all the nobles of the provinces, the highest officers, the governors, and the royal officials helped the Jews for fear of Mordecai.

Questions
     1) Sooo...is this FEAR thing something Mordecai learned from his God/LORD? And people who believe this way wonder why there are people who hate them? I am NOT saying they deserve the hate, but what I am asking is do they really wonder why some people are so angry with them and harbor great disdain for them?

     2) Do people who fear others normally love those they fear? Following this line of thinking, how in the fuckey-doo do Christians figure to get people to really love God/the LORD if what they are teaching is fear this and fear that or God will do this or that?

Nehemiah: Just a Few Questions

With ALL of these questions posed in regards to the Bible wouldn't it be nice to be able to access the questions in one place instead of flipping between blog postings? Now you can! The questions for the first five books of the Bible, the Pentateuch are now in one compilation, and there is no need whatsoever to flip-flop between various posts! Go here for your copy:
http://www.amazon.com/Turkey-Broth-Spirit-Questions-Pentateuch-ebook/dp/B00GVLQ0CY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385585976&sr=8-1&keywords=ester+lighthorse

Just as Short as Ezra

Well...hummm, Nehemiah really didn't have that much to offer either. Go figure. My questioning fared about as well as it did in the book of Ezra, thus this post will also be quite short. Good times!

1. Nehemiah 1:11
11 O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who delight in honoring you. Please grant me success today by making the king favorable to me. Put it into his heart to be kind to me." In those days I was the king's cup-bearer.

Questions
     1) The quest is not whether God/the LORD hears BUT whether He gives a shit about what is uttered in prayer, right?

2. Nehemiah 8:2
2 So Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, both men and women and all who could understand what they heard, on the first day of the seventh month.

Questions
     1) Sooo...were there those who did not understand? Were they stupid, or did God/the LORD just treat them that way on general principles?

3. Nehemiah 8:8
8 They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly, and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading.

Questions
     1) How many ways do you interpret Thou shalt not kill?

     2) Is not the sense inherent in Thou shalt not kill? Why would this need to be explained or be 'given sense' to? Did the people NOT understand Thou shalt not kill?

4. Nehemiah 9:1-2
1 Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the people of Israel were assembled with fasting and in sackcloth, and with earth on their heads.

2 Those of Israelite descent separated themselves from all foreigners as they confessed their own sins and the sins of their ancestors.

Questions
     1) God is hell-bent on making the people pay for sins they did not do, isn't He? Why the fuck are the people having to confess the sins of their fathers?

5. Nehemiah 9:8
8 When he had proved himself faithful, you made a covenant with him to give him and his descendants the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Jebusites, and Girgashites. And you have done what you promised, for you are always true to your word.

Questions
     1) Fucking where? Fucking WHERE has the LORD/God done what He has promised and stuck to His Word?

     2) Isn't the only place where God/the LORD follows through is when it comes to PUNISHMENT and DEATH and SACRIFICING shit so He can get His blood fix?

6. Nehemiah 9:21
21 Forty years you sustained them in the wilderness, and they lacked nothing. Their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell.

Questions
     1) Fucking please. That was 40 years of mental/psychological warfare where there was only one winner, right? The winners were NOT the people of Israel, correct?
